About KKCCC

Kilkenny County Childcare Committee (KKCCC) is one of 33 childcare committees established under the National Development Plan, to co-ordinate childcare developments locally.Untitled

Established in 2002, it has a broad range of representatives from the statutory, voluntary/community, and childcare sectors.

Mission Statement

“To facilitate childcare providers to develop appropriate childcare services which respond to and cater for the childcare needs of local parents and their children and meets the objectives of the National Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2010; and to continue to support and work with childcare providers, parents and stakeholders at local level”.

What kind of support do we offer?

Over the past seven years KKCCC has worked in partnership with many local and national agencies to maximise support and development within the sector. 

Kilkenny County Childcare Committee provides support for

  • Existing and potential childcare providers, both from the community and private sector within Kilkenny city and county
  • Both existing and potential Childminders
  • Childcare workers
  • Parents
  • Childcare Students
  • Anybody with a genuine interest in becoming involved in the sector

Kilkenny County Childcare Committee provides support through

  • Provision of information on all aspects of childcare through our extensive Resource and Information Centre
  • Advice and information on childcare provision and policy developments within the childcare sector from our Childcare Development Officers 
  • A Childminding Advisory Service
  • Ongoing support from our Childcare Development Officers with regard to applications for funding under the NCIP and ECCE schemes.
  • Continuous support during the development process of each new childcare service
  • Information conferences, seminars and an annual in-service training programme for the sector
  • Advisory visits for childcare providers from our Quality Officer
