Kilkenny County Childcare work to provide relevant, accessible and affordable in-service training opportunites to all childcare providers, childminders, childcare workers and childcare students within Kilkenny.
We do this by:
- Ensuring a wide range of relevant, high quality in-service training events are made available to the sector each year
- Organising, where possible, easily accessible training venues
- Holding the majority of events in the evening or weekends in an effort to facilitate participants working arrangements
- Subsidising the cost of events for Kilkenny participants in order to make training more affordable

Simon & Friends
The Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) resource for preschools, ‘Simon & Friends’ aims to promote and encourage road safety among children aged five and under. The resource contains four individual storybooks with stories and characters that promote age appropriate road safety messages amongst preschool children. This training will provide practitioners with the information required to utilise this resource effectively within their preschool setting.
Participating services will receive a ‘Simon & Friends’ resource pack.

‘Down to Business’ Series
Effectively managing and developing your childcare/early education service
This training series is a collaboration project with Kilkenny County Enterprise Board.

Buntús Start Programme
Buntús Start is a comprehensive physical activity programme for children aged three to five years which aims to extend the physical, creative, personal, social and emotional capabilities of preschool children through enjoyable, planned, physical development play activities. All staff will attend an initial four hour training workshop with a further two hours follow up approximately 6-8 weeks afterwards.
Participating services will receive a set of Buntús resource cards and a Buntús Start Bag.
