A Storytelling Event with Niall De Burca.
Kilkenny County Childcare Committee were delighted to welcome renowned Irish storyteller Niall de Búrca to Ballykeefe Amphitheatre for a Family Storytelling Event as part of Heritage Week 2018. This was a free event, funded by Kilkenny Heritage Office. Over 50 children and their families attended for a morning of traditional Irish tales, forest school activities & crafts in this stunning natural setting.
Our reporter for the day was 7-year-old Mary O’Sullivan.
“The show was in an amphitheatre. The amphitheatre had a big dome shaped stage and the seats were shaped like stairs. Loads of concerts are played there. There was a man, Niall, who stood on the stage and told good stories. All the children sat on the carpet beneath the stage, the children listened and did the actions. Niall was very funny and the stories were very funny, all the children laughed, one boy fell over because he laughed so much. There were lots of other things to do too. The children went on a scavenger hunt and they enjoyed it very much. There were fairy doors in the forest. There were palm drills and wooden circles to make necklaces. You could make flags and puppets and play with puppet theatres. It was a good day for everyone”
